frequently asked questions

Here at 98 South Bail Bonds, we want to help you make informed decisions and understand the process.

What is a bail bond?

A bail bond is a contract guaranteeing the defendant will appear in court each and every time they are required, until the end of their case.

How much is a bail bond?

Bond pricing is fixed by Florida statutes. Any bond over $1000 dollars is 10% of the face value. Any bond under $1000 is $100. For example, if a bond is $5,000, the premium is always $500. If a bond is $750, the premium is always $100.

What can I do while on bond?

Being on bond can be an intimidating situation and here at 98 South Bail Bonds, we want this to be as comfortable as possible. We ask that you:

  • Check in with the agency once a week and call with any concerns you may have
  • Keep up to date and take an interest in your case with your attorney
  • Know when and where your scheduled appearances are
  • Check in with pretrial services when you're required

I have a warrant. What do I do?

The first thing is to contact 98 South Bail Bonds. We can write your bond for fast and easy service.

What is an indemnitor?

This is the individual, normally a relative, friend or employer who is bound by the contract to pay or reimburse any losses to the agency.

What is premium and what is collateral?

Premium is the payment to the bondsman for their services. This is non-refundable. Collateral is a type of security held in the agent's possession to ensure the contract is met. Upon completion of the defendant's case, the collateral will be returned to its rightful owner. Collateral can be cash, jewelry, mortgage deeds, titles etc.
